About the Program Director and Owner of The Fit for Life Group

Ruthy Dunec is a graduate of the York University Kinesiology Program and is a Level Two NCCP certified gymnastics and trampoline coach. From the age of 16 Ruthy has taught gymnastics and acrobatics at both the competitive and recreational level.

In addition to her coaching Ruthy has worked with children of all ages in a sports camp setting for the last 15 years. Instilling a love for fitness, health and vitality has become Ruthy’s central goal in life.


About the head Coach and Facility Supervisor - Larry Bialogrecki

Larry Bialogrecki has forty years experience coaching Recreational Gymnastics. A graduate of York University (1973) with a Bachelor of Arts specializing in Physical Education, he is a NCCP Level 3 Gymnastics coach.

He coached in a variety of gymnastics gymnasiums in Southern Ontario until he co-founded Steeles-West Gymnastics in 1987. Since 1987 He has been coaching and directing gymnastics classes and day camp programs for all ages at Steeles-West Gymnastics.

Classes we offer:

1 Hour Beginner Class (6 - 8 years old)
In this class your child will learn all the basic essentials for gymnastics. Any child at any fitness level can join in for this class! It is a great opportunity to get your child active and bring their fitness level up a notch or two. Your child will learn things like rolls, cartwheels, beginner handstands, basic trampoline, bars, vault and rings skills. The main focus would be on improving strength, coordination and agility while still having fun.

1.5 Hour Beginner/Intermediate (Ages 6–8, 9–11 & 12-17)
This class is geared for children and teens who have been doing gymnastics for a minimum of one year and are ready to move up to the next level. Children and teens with a high level of energy and a natural ability for gymnastics are also able to join this class. Your child and teen will now have an opportunity to build on their skill basics which they have learned thus far. At this level your child will learn more difficult skills on all the apparatus that match up with their ability. Although the main focus at this level is on skill enhancement a significant focus is placed on increasing strength, coordination and agility while still having fun.

1.5 & 2 Hour intermediate/Advanced Gymnastics (Ages 6-8, 9-11 & 12-17)
This class is geared towards children and teens who have been doing gymnastics for a number of years. Children and teens at this level are learning inverted skills and tumbling. When reaching this level a focus on specific skill enhancement is understood by the child/teen and coach. At this level the children/teens will have a major focus on strength enhancement specific to the skills they wish to learn.

Tumbling, Boys & Girls: Intermediate/Advanced (Ages 8+)
